Ted's Bio

In 1987 Ted Swartz graduated from seminary and began a ministry that took him not to a pulpit in a congregation, but to more than one quarter million people across the U.S. and into Canada, Kenya, Japan, and beyond.

The first 20 years of this work were done as part of the duo, Ted & Lee. Since the sudden death of his acting partner in May 2007, Ted is presenting his unique dramas with a variety of actors suited for the roles. Fish-Eyes and Creation Chronicles—two of the best-loved Ted & Lee performances—will be continue to be part of the touring repertoire, along with several other shows which are currently in the writing stage.

Blending poignancy and humor with biblical story, Ted has an uncanny ability to bring archaic biblical characters to life in a way that helps anyone identify with people who were at one time only names in a big Book. It’s through this portrayal of these lifelike characters that comedy emerges and audiences see God’s story in a whole new light.

Ted lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Along with writing and acting, his loves include his wife, three sons, and baseball.
